 Obtaining sensible financing is an important early (if not first) step in the home buying process, and working with the right lender is important. You should make sure that you are comfortable with not only the person you’re working with and their company, but also the loan you are getting.

Knowing not only how much home you can buy, but also how much the payments will be, what is included in the payment, and will the payments or interest rate ever increase, are all important questions that you will want to get answered when you speak to a lender. Most lenders are also knowledgeable about how you can work on your credit score to get a better rate on a loan, what if any down-payment assistance programs you may qualify for, and the common mistakes people make when they are financing a home purchase. So I encourage you to speak with lenders early in the process, and select the right one for you based on their service, and their available products.
